Litigation Paralegal
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compile medical records and billing in a format palatable for insurance adjusters in personal injury cases. Update medical records and billing as necessary.
- Assist in preparation of written discovery to be propounded to Defendants. Assist clients in answering written discovery.
- Exercise primary responsibility for the overall organization of personal injury and medical malpractice case files, including the organization of pleadings, correspondence, medical research, and legal research.
- Organize interview memos, digests, and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Keep clients informed by maintaining contact; and communicating case progress.
- Under the guidance of an attorney, assist in organizing information for expert witnesses, including locality information. Assist in organizing information for motions and/or motion responses and exhibits.
- Assist in the preparation of case files for trial by organizing exhibits and medical records. Assist in coordinating expert witness and other witness logistics, along with a legal assistant. Assists in taking Courtroom notes during trial if requested.
- Assist in identifying subrogation interests, liens, and, under the guidance of an attorney, occasionally negotiate the same.
- Assist as needed in drafting complaints, notices, and affidavits in Healthcare liability cases; preparing and filing discovery requests; preparing responses to opposing counsel; generating status reports.
- Assist as otherwise necessitated in answering the telephone, vetting potential cases over the telephone, communicating with clients to answer day-to-day questions, and other small office needs that arise.
